How does Thermochip™ work?

Thermochip works in the same way as other standard pet identification microchips to improve the chance of your pet being reunited with you, should they ever become lost.

In addition to acting as an identification microchip, Thermochip has an integrated temperature biosensor, which makes it possible to take a measurement of a pet’s subcutaneous temperature at the site of the microchip.

This “Microchip Temperature” can be read using a compatible microchip reader, such as the SureSense Microchip Reader.

How does Thermochip identify my pet?

Thermochip works in the same way as a standard identification microchip:

Pet’s unique microchip number is registered on the I-CAD database alongside the pet owner’s contact details. It is also added to the pet’s vaccination booklet and pet passport for the owner to keep.

Every vet practice, animal shelter and police station has a microchip reader which can be used to check the microchip number of a lost pet, in order to trace its owner.

Thermochip is a similar size to a standard identification microchip and is made of the same materials.

  • Size: 2.12mm diameter x 13mm long (about the size of a grain of rice)
  • Bioglass capsule
  • Electronics: stores the unique identification number and temperature biosensor Thermochip, like standard identification microchips, is compatible with Sure Petcare’s range of microchip-enabled products, such as the Microchip Cat Flap and Microchip Pet Feeder.
