What are the names of your cats, how long have you had them and where did they come from?

Their names are Midnight (Midi), Milo and Luna. We think Midi is approximately four years old and Milo and Luna her kittens are now 20 months old. My sister is a fosterer for Cats Protection and had Midi in her care when she was pregnant. She was given up by her original owner to a friend, who then gave her up to Cats Protection so we don't really know her exact age or her history. While in my sister's care she had seven kittens. We had lost one of our cats in 2020 and our other cat early in 2021, so we were really keen in homing two kittens. It was so nice that we knew the kittens from day one of their lives and had many opportunities to visit them and bond with them before they were old enough to be adopted by us. Unfortunately, black cats don't get as much interest as other cats and Midi was up for adoption so we decided to adopt her too! They came to live with us in July 2021.

What impact has Cats Protection had on your life?

Cats Protection has had quite a big impact in my life. As mentioned, my sister is a fosterer for them so she often has cats and kittens in her care so we often get to visit and play with cats and kittens. After some voluntary work that I was doing at my daughter's school came to an end, I decided to volunteer with Cats Protection myself. I now look after all general enquiries to our local branch (Guildford & Godalming), as well as issuing neutering vouchers to families who are on low incomes so that they can get their cats neutered. This is really important as one of the reasons there are so many cats and kittens in care is due cats not being neutered.

What difference can you see that donations make to the cats in Cats Protection care?

Without the donations we wouldn't be able to pay for the food or any veterinary treatments for the cats and kittens in care. We also wouldn't be able to provide neutering vouchers to help reduce the amount of cats and kittens that need care. We are also finding that people have started to want to rehome their cats due to the cost of living crisis. This makes donations so important since we haven't been able to fundraise as much as usual over the last two years due to COVID.

What Sure Petcare products do you have? How do they help your everyday life as a cat mum?

We have the SureFlap® Microchip Cat Flap with the Hub and three SureFeed® Microchip Pet Feeders. The cat flap is great, as there are a lot of cats in our area and this means I can be sure that there aren't other cats coming into the house. With three cats constantly coming and going means I don't have to be on door duty! I love the Sure Petcare App which means that when we are out or away, I can check that the cats are in overnight etc. It's also been really useful that I can set any one of the cats to be an indoor cat if necessary. With the feeders, again they are really useful. Since we have had our cats they have been on different foods, so making sure the right cat eats the right food would have been a real challenge without these! Although Luna is very cheeky, she likes to stick her paw in Milo's bowl whilst he is eating and pull it out, so she then gets to eat his before moving onto her own!
