Microchip Pet Feeder Connect makes medication easier to administer
Why did you choose the Microchip Pet Feeder Connect?
Casper is on Thyroid medication and he has a very sensitive stomach in his old age, so we got the feeders to make sure they can’t access each other’s food. We also wanted to be able to monitor Casper’s feeding so that we could put his medication in his food and ensure that he eats it all.
How did you find the setup of the Microchip Pet Feeder Connect?
The setup of the product was easy, and we already have a Microchip Cat Flap Connect so we could connect the two feeders to our existing Hub. Tsuki was a little scared of the moving lid to start with as she is a very timid cat, but she soon got used to it after using the training mode.
Has the pet feeder solved any particular issues that you previously experienced?
We can now put Casper's medication in his food, instead of individual treats, and don’t have to worry about Tsuki trying to eat it. Also, Casper is always hungry due to his medication, but now he can no longer steal Tsuki's dry food as it makes him sick, so it’s benefitting them both.
Has the pet feeder given you an insight into your pet’s feeding habits?
Yes! It’s amazing to see the difference. Tsuki eats at quite regular intervals, whereas Casper eats most of his food as soon as it is put down.
Does the pet feeder make you feel more connected to your pets?
Yes, certainly, it’s good to know when Casper has finished eating his food, as he lies to me and my partner by asking for more food, but now we know when he was fed, and if he needs feeding again. We also hire a pet sitter for when we have weekends away, and it’s great to get notified that she has given them food in the morning and evening on time. It’s reassuring to see that our pet sitter is doing her job and coming to our house twice a day. Added to the fact that we have a Cat Flap Connect, we keep track of when they go in and out, when they’re fed and when they eat! It’s like we’re still at home!
Are you using the single bowls, or the half bowls?
We use single bowls for Casper as he only has wet food, and half bowls for Tsuki as she has wet and dry food. Casper is fed senior wet food and Tsuki is fed senior wet and sensitive dry food.
Do any of your pet’s have weight problems and if so, how has or will the feeder help them?
As Casper is older, we need to be sure he keeps up his weight, so it’s important we know his food is his, and he is still eating a healthy portion regularly.
How did you find the setup of the app?
The app is very self-explanatory, and we learnt our way around it very quickly.
How often do you use the app and when do you interact with the app most?
The most we see of the app is from the notifications. We get alerted throughout the day of what the cats are up to and see their patterns, especially when we wake up in the morning or when we’re away from home.
Is there any area of the app that you have used most?
Checking who fed the cat last is very useful for us as my partner and I both lead busy lives. We also keep an eye on the insights to make sure both cats are regularly visiting their bowl and eating well.
Have you shared access to the app with anyone such as friends, family or pet sitters?
Yes, I have shared the account with my partner, so she is an admin too.
Would you recommend the product?
100%. Having both the feeder and cat flap means we can keep track of them, manage their needs and make sure they’re okay when we aren’t there.
